Amgueddfa Corwen Museum

Corwen museum | The slate mine

The Museum displays information about the culture and heritage of Corwen, Edeyrnion and the Dee Valley. It tells the story of the people who have lived in this area over the centuries and to the present day. Free admission but the museum relies on donations to cover the costs as we they are a totally independent, volunteer run Museum.

The museum reopened on Easter Saturday 2022 with a great new exhibit about slate and the origins of Glyndyfrdwy Village. It tells the story of the families who made their living from slate and how the village grew from a number of farms and small businesses. As part of the exhibition, the volunteers built a replica slate mine with sound and light to give a fully immersive experience.
