The Frisian Maritime Museum focuses on the history of Frisian shipping. But the history of the city of Sneek and the surrounding area is also well covered. Topics do not only include skûtsjesilen (the sailing regatta for traditional Frisian skutsjes), Sneekweek and the Frisian maritime power, but also the Eleven-city skating race (Elfstedentocht) and the Sneek Waterpoort. There is also a beautiful collection of silverware on display. There is an enjoyable museum cafe and as well as an exciting Children’s Museum. So there really is something for everyone.
